You’ve reached Style on the Edge, a shopping guide for women in US sizes 14-18 (UK 16-20) (EU 44-48).
Many high fashion lines stop at a US ladies size 10 or 12. Most mainstream department store brands and mall shops offer a size 14, but only some offer the elusive straight size 16 & 18.
Though “plus size” models often wear our size, plus size clothes aren’t cut for us. A size 16W is completely different from a ladies 16.
At size 12 and up, it’s often a complicated search for clothes to fit and flatter, to find pieces that aren’t cut too wide or adding bulk. With my shopping guide, I hope you find some sources you didn’t know about.
I like fitted, comfortable, quality clothing (cotton, wool, silk and cashmere). I have my own style – a bit classic, a bit funky, a bit Brit, a bit American. I like cardigans and Converse, peasant blouses and pea-coats, paisley and plaid and lots of navy blue and black). I’m not a fashionista or clothes-horse, but I do love fabric and design and finding things that flatter my shape. I am an intrepid bargain hunter. I’m working with a very edited wardrobe, donating whatever doesn’t work and shopping very carefully for new additions.
I share what I find about fit, style and quality in an honest way. I have no sponsored links or ads. If I link to a shopping site, I have either shopped there, or wish to try it. I like to support indie brands and items made locally of natural and organic materials. But add in the difficulty of shopping for our size, and I have to keep my horizons broad.
Thank you so much for visiting and I hope you find something of value to you here. You can contact me through my Style on the Edge Facebook page.
